The proposed research is concerned with the description and reconstruction of heart surface deformation in the context of regional heart function assessment. The goal is to extend the current state-of-art in real-time dynamic quantification based on 2D echogram sequences (T+2D) to T + coarse 3D (T+2.5D). This approach potentially offers accuracy over 2D techniques and cost and speed advantages over alternative full volumetric (3D+T) methods.A key novelty of the work is in the use of sparse-view reconstruction from echogram sequences for rapid 3D reconstruction. New ways to describe regional variability in ventricle motion will also be investigated and their clinical potential evaluated.
