Summary on Grant Application Form |
The goal of this research is the synergistic integration of multi-modality three-dimensional microscopic imaging techniques. A microscope employing multi-wavelength optical and confocal microscopes and acoustic 3D microscopes will be developed and integrated into a computer controlled, mechanically scanned system for studying thick histological tissue specimens. Registration of similar and disparated modalities will be studied. Synergistic combination will be through development of new multi-modality fusion algorithms and multi-resolution segmentation techniques. Integration of these techniques into a demonstration test-bed will allow for pathologists and medical imaging researchers to explore aspects of synergistic imaging interactively on real tissue samples.
