Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal involves the replacement of stoichiometric routes by catalytic routes for the production of allyl alcohols which are essential reagents for intermediates used in the synthesis of biologically active molecules. These catalysts will e prepared by partially sulphiding supported copper based catalysts in order to eliminate non-selective active sites. Further control of the degree of sulphidation of the surface will be effected by the addition of small amounts of transition metal or alkali metal oxides. The interactions between the reactants intermediates and H2S on the catalyst surface will be studied by radiotracer methods.
