Summary on Grant Application Form |
As the functionality and complexity of Web applications grows, the performance characteristics of Web-based information technology environments are becoming increasingly complex. In such environments, future software systems will need to be able to adapt in real-time to the prevailing performance characteristics in order to optimise their use of available computational resources. We propose to conduct research into distributed, agent-based software systems which will test and monitor the environments in which they exist and which will provide performance information services for system users of other agents.
