Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project will provide a bridge between the needs of industry to manage technology and the diverse underpinning body of theoretical knowledge. It will deliverer a specified suite of practical tools for technology management in the context of an integrating conceptual framework. User guidance for tool deployment will also be providedThe research will be carried out over three years in close collaboration with core sponsoring, a range of supporting companies and with assistance from a variety of academic sources. In view of the range of aims spanning both industrial and academic deliverables, a number of research approaches will be employed, and the project activities are grouped into four workpackages. The content of the workpackages can to some degree executed in parallel, although there is hierarchical dependency between them. They are:1. Requirement specification: technology management support. (Workshops, interviews and surveys to determine current practice and requirements).2. A conceptual framework with practical applications. (Development of a theory base for the practical tools).3. Tool development. (Action research projects in companies to develop the tools).4. Tool testing. (Adaptation of the tools for varying company and sector conditions).A wide variety of dissemination routes will be used.
