Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal concerns electromodulation spectroscopy characterisations of excited states in polymer semiconductors. Specifically, the project aims to (i) develop further the analysis of electroabsorption data to take into account inhomogeneous energy and polarisability distributions, anisotropic molecular orientations and overlapping resonances, (ii) establish (in Sheffield) electromodulated fluorescence as a complementary technique to electroabsorption, (iii) study the fundamental properties of a range of polymers and model oligomers prepared in different morphological forms and incorporated within device structures and (iv) instigate modulation studies of intra-gap and triplet state absorptions.
