Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed project investigates the concept of an Integrated Product Model to support the dependability assessment of embedded control systems in critical applications. The approach builds on product data exchange principles, as developed in the mechanical engineering domain (ISO STEP), and will assess the effectiveness and sufficiency of such product models, held in electronic form and integrated across engineering specialisms, for achieving concurrent design and dependability assessment processes. Research will be based in the particular domain of aero-engine digital controllers and will address basic feasibility issues by means of a tool prototyping methodology.
