Summary on Grant Application Form |
The utility of microporous solids as shape selective catalysts is intimately tied in their structure and composition. Templating agents are commonly used to bias synthesis toward a particular structure. We have recently demonstrated how templating agents can be designed using de novo methods to obtain a desired pore geometry. Now we will extend these methods to the control of the composition of aluminosilicates and the distribution of Al atoms. The designed materials will be synthesised and tested. We believe that the control of Al distribution in these materials could lead to technologically important material characteristics, to be exploited in catalysis
