Summary on Grant Application Form |
A series of detailed transmission electron microscopy experiments will be performed upon well-equilibrated semicoherent heterophase interfaces in a series of model Titanium-based alloys. Geometric modelling using the topological theory of interfacial defects and the O-lattice algorithm will be used test methods for the reference structures adopted by the boundaries by comparing the expected defect configurations with those observed experimentally. The detailed character of the defects in the interface will then be investigated to identify their role in boundary migration and slip transmission processes.
