Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal will investigate a novel process for the production of pressurised metered dose inhaler formualtions. Novel nanoparticles will be synthsised from polymers, currently under investigation as drug carriers, and containing a peptidergic drug. An L2 phase micellar system will from the template for the conversion of the polymers into nanoparticels following polar solvent addition and crosslinking. Microemulsion chacteristics will be understood prior to stability studies in hydrofluoroalkane propellants. The final phase will involove aerosolisation studies as assessed by cascade impaction techniques and the potential to control the release of the peptidergic drug from the deposited fraction will be evaluated.
