Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this project is to prepare novel materials based on superlattices consisting of nanometre-sized metal particles, initially gold, separated by organic dithiols and including new fullerenedithiols. Such materials would thus consist of an array of essentially monodisperse metal particles, electron transfer between which could be controlled by an electroactive moiety, readily addressable by STM by virtue of its size.
