Summary on Grant Application Form |
In recent years there have been much progress in developing surface coating materials to inhibit various corrosion and deposition processes that occur in oil pipelines. However, there is currently little understanding about how the different inhibitors interact with each other, or the extent to which such interactions may be synergistic or competitive. In this project it is proposed to undertake a computer modelling study of the effect of self-assembled monolayer corrosion inhibitors on wax deposition from oil. Particular attention will be paid to how the corrosion inhibitor affects the adhesion of wax crystals to a metal surface.
