Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim is to develop an attribute engineering based system level model for integrated product-process design (IPPD) for complex manufactured products. The need for system level integration methods is highlighted. Product attributes (such as reliability, cost, performance) will drive the integration of the engineering effort needed in developing products through design and manufacture. Traceable links between customer needs/business drivers/product attributes and manufacturing attributes (such as lead time, quality, flexibility) will be made explicit. A systems engineering environment package will be used to demonstrate the IPPD model and use will be made of BS7000 Part 2. Case study validation will be undertaken.
