Summary on Grant Application Form |
The programme proposes to develop the generic design principles which underlie the active disassembly technology. This work will be carried out in partnership with appropriate manufacturers and recyclers, studying the design process associated with design for disassembly. It builds on the 'Blue Sky' programme grant Eco-Design for Active Disassembly using SMART materials. Tow complementary technologies, shape memory plastics and shape memory metals, were identified and showed great promise. Subsequent application of the generic design principles offers both an environmental and economic advantage.
