Dr Sproat will review existing software tools, to identify suitable candidates for modification to carry out the analyses planned on previously unseen English words. These include a base-line morphological analyser, a spelling error recogniser, a tool for handling hyphenation and a filter to deal with ambiguous synthetic compounds. He will then advise on their modification and/or development.Dr Bauer will review our observations from a manual analysis of newly occurring words. He will help to resolve problems of ambiguity in classifications for phenomena discovered
