Summary on Grant Application Form |
The computer aided design of slot array antennas, whether of the linear or planar type, is becoming increasingly sophisticated and accurate, so that, today, most conventional linearly polarised or circularly polarised arrays of this description can be designed almost entirely by computer. However this is not true of conformal slot arrays, which require polarisation agile elements to overcome pattern degradations. This proposal is directed towards the development of a hybrid MoM/FDTD model of the polarisation agile slot radiator embedded in a curved ground plane, and to use the model to design a small prototype conformal, polarisation agile array.
