Summary on Grant Application Form |
Laser induced fluorescence cooling will be explored in solid and fluid solutions, containing molecular dyes with high fluorescence quantum efficiencies, through the phenomenon of anti-Stokes.Active dye molecules, host materials and the experimental arrangement in a range of novel cooling experiments will unveil a number of critical milestones in the understanding of the condensed phase cooling process. This improved understanding will enable optimisation of the cooling effect and open up a potentially large and varied category of new materials.
