Summary on Grant Application Form |
This is an experiemental and theoretical investigation of backwashing in deadend microfiltration membrane filters. We aim to link properties of the feed solutions and filtration and washing operating parameters to the effectiveness of the backwash. The project will create a basic knowledge of these effects, which is necessary for maintaining membrane filter system performance. Understanding and controlling cleaner reagents, their concentration, the operating pressure and temperature, and flow rates can determine the lifetime and performance of the membrane.
