Summary on Grant Application Form |
Research will be conducted to establish a technology strategy development system that will provide comprehensive links to the future product/process roadmap of a corporation taking into account the time-scales when markets develop, and technologies become commercially viable. The system will incorporate life-cycle tools for use in the technology strategy development process. A technology assessment and evaluation system will be devised to assist with the acquisition and incorporation of new technologies into products.A performance measurement system will be developed using a reference model framework to assess the effectiveness of the proposed approach. An analysis will be carried out to evaluate the impact of the proposed research on manufacturing processes and resources.A key deliverable from the Project will be a software environment implemented in groupware, which will be tested on an Exemplar proposed by the industrial collaborators. This will lead to processes and systems which can be assimilated into the management processes for day to day use, and for long-term planning within manufacturing organisations.
