Summary on Grant Application Form
The project is to study the Fermi edge singularity in small semiconductor devices using both analytical methods and numerical techniques. Broadly speaking, we will address the question: which properties of a two-dimensional electron gas can be learned by measuring its response to an instantaneous switching of perturbation? In order to produce a theoretical framework for FES in microstructures, we will study how existing treatments need to be modified to allow for disorder, electron-electron interaction and application of a magnetic field.
