Summary on Grant Application Form |
Our experiment to measure the electric dipole moment of the electron under grant GR/K52058 has been brought to a complete halt by the failure of our Coherent Innove 20 argon ion pump as a result of normal ageing. There is no other way for us to obtain the necessary laser light. The normal remedy would be to replace the tube but unfortunately Coherent is no longer willing support this model. I am therefore requesting urgently for funds to have the tube repaired by Cambridge lasers who will replace the windows.
