Summary on Grant Application Form |
Mathematical models have been derived for tokamak controller design using a number of complementary methods. The first aim of our work is to validate these models using experimentally measured data taken from the TCV tokamak in Lausanne. We will then use these models to design various robust control schemes which must respect power supply saturation limits. The interaction between system identification and controller desIgn will also be studied; it is important that these activites interact in a constructive manner. The limits set by power supply saturation will be studied using model predictive type control calculations which are based on quadratic programmes. The robust control system must be designed so that its performance does not degrade significantly in the presence of this saturation. Finally, we intend to implement and test this controller in Lausanne, Switzerland on TCV.
