Summary on Grant Application Form
The University of Plymouth contribution to the project involves three stages. Firstly, to analyze existing field data sets collected in a variety of wave and current conditions on different natural beaches, in order to identify the different types of suspension events and how these relate to velocity and acceleration maxima. Secondly, to collect new field data sets, to enhance planned measurements within the EU projects INDIA and COASTD=3D, which will have the advantage of simultaneous altimeter and sector-scanning sonar data, so that the influence of bedforms on the suspension and transport process can be investigated and parametered. Thirdly, to input these observations/parameterisations into the Liverpool micro-model.
