Summary on Grant Application Form
The project primarily concerns adsorption of ozone from air or oxygen mixture on to inorganic adsorbents and treatment of water to destroy and remove contained toxic organic chemicals with such gas-loaded adsorbents. An existing pilot plant is to be modified to work slightly under atmospheric pressure and to be fitted with an adsorption column 2m high (five times larger than currently in use). We intend confirming and extending results gained so far on ozone leading breakthrough curves, and water treatment breakthrough curves. New adsorbents need to be tested as well as a range of pollutants. Batch tests will be used as a part of the development procedure.
