Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposal embodies research vital to maintain a UK world-lead in crucial and fundamental areas of theoretical/computational atomic, molecular and optical physics involving muliphoton and electron collision processes. Massivley-parellel HPC resource identified for seven areas in multiphoton absorption and six areas in electron collisions. The seven areas in multiphoton absorption are:1. Laser-driven dissociative ionisation of H22. Laser-driven helium3. R-matrix (Floquet and Time-dependent)4. Non-sequential double ionisation for elliptically polarised fields5. Relativistic dynamics6. Pulse propagation7. Electron-electron interactions in cluster dynamicsThe six areas in electron collisions are:1. Iron-peak elements2. Intermediate energy collisions3. Rydberg states4. Atoms in crossed fields5. Positron - and positronium atom collisions6. (e,2e) collisions
