Summary on Grant Application Form |
The overall objective of the extended visit by Dr Yan is to explore, with the proposers and their colleagues, the extent to which a range of tools can be used collaboratively to contribute towards the rapid transformation of aerospace related CFD codes from scalar to parallel form with high scaleable efficiencies; together with the practical issue of their subsequent maintenance as the code evolves and hardware changes. This is a significant issue in the exploitation of high performance parallel computing systems and so has particular importance for NASA, given their large scale HPPC laboratory. The proposers have been developing parrallelisation tools for some years; Dr Yan wants to evaluate these and others in the context of other tools on real CFD and benchmark codes and provide in-depth feedback to the proposers. This kind of collaboration is vital if research tools are to develop and fulfil their potential.
