Summary on Grant Application Form
Th proposal is to bring world class UK work on non-linear optics and linear magneto-optics together under the network heading non-linear optics, in which the linear work will always inform the new developments. This is a new, globally exciting area driven, in part, by the very recent realisation that spectacular non-linear Kerr rotations can be expected from low-dimensional magnetic structures, and the giant photo-induced Faraday rotations are possible in semimagnetic semiconductors
