Summary on Grant Application Form |
A multi-user detection strategy for demodulation of synchronous and asynchronous CDMA based on our modified version of genetic algorithm is proposed. This approach is novel and are the first to investigate use of genetic algorithms for such applications. Early results are encouraging, but much more research is required. The problem of reducing multiple access is interference is a NP-complete problem. Genetic Algorithms as a parallel search method have advantages over one directional search over one directional search algorithms like neural networks or other techniques such as Multi Stage Detectors (MSD).Through our novel use of GA, there is no fixed or variable detection delay, which makes it highly desirable for fast varying systems parameters. Because of its parallel nature it has the chance to find better solutions and better performance much better than MSD and very close to single user (SU) bound. The complexity of the receiver is related to the number of population of each generation. However, there are still areas, which will need to be further investigated, and optimised to reduce the complexity of implementations. Major areas of further research are practical Objective , Function, Mutation.
