Summary on Grant Application Form |
Cranfield University has been working with Jaguar Cars for four years in the areas of Real-Time DSIP, principally for Night Vision Systems. There is also support for our work direct from Texas Instruments. Our role in the project is to use this experience in three ways:1. to enable high quality, reliable data collection from radar and (later) synchronised radar and video sensors;2. to work with Birmingham and Jaguar to develop recognition and classification algorithms for the road geometry (edges and junctions);3. to implement these algorithms on DSP hardware to achieve real-time classification;4. to use our knowledge of multi-sensor DSIP to consider the advantages offered by this approach;5. to assist in the integration of these novel capabilities into high level on-board systems such as collision avoidance. This type of work is not being carried out elsewhere in the UK and will add significantly to capabilities in this area.
