|
There will be 3 elements:1. Study of the impact of alternative source control techniques in actual catchments: The viability and effectiveness of a number of alternative source control devices will be assessed for their impact on flows and quality within the drainage infrastructure, and where appropriate for their potential to enhance groundwater resources. Initial desk exercises using Microdrainage will be carried out for specific catchments, followed by evaluation of measures on site.2. Field monitoring of permeable pavement: A section of car park at Coventry University, recently constructed of permeable pavement, will be monitored to evaluate performance in treating a wide range of pollutants under external operational conditions.3. Development of simulation tool: This involves work in support of the development of a simulation tool to allow engineers to evaluate the effects of source control in terms of storage and attenuation at local level and runoff and pollution control at catchment level.
