Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of this research is to carry out a feasibility study on developing a novel technique for producing functionally graded metal-ceramic joints. A combination of the electrophoretic deposition process and the reaction bonding process will be used here for producing functionally graded metal-ceramic joints which will be used for high temperature applications. Two model systems will be studied in this research. One is the SiC/superalloy system which is normally considered as a high temperature structural material combination. Another is the Sr-LaMnO3/FeCralloy joint for use as the electrical connection in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs).
