Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal aims to develop a clear formulation and understanding of retrodiction, that is the description of a quantum system before a measurement based only on the result of the measurement. The theory will be developed to apply to realistic optical experiments by including factors such as detector inefficiency, amplification, losses and propagation. The techniques developed will be applied to real problems in quantum communications and state preparation.
