Abstract of proposed research (not exceeding 100 words): The project seeks to evaluate the potential of combining fluorous biphase, functional block co-polymers and soluble polymer supports as an effective new process for carrying out transformations. A number of novel-F-containing acrylic block copolymers will be prepared by atom transfer polymerisation by both the macro-initiator and sequential monomer addition approaches. These will subsequently be used to prepare primary amino and Schiff base functional polymers. The new polymers will then be used as soluble, immobilised catalysts in the fluorous biphase.
