Summary on Grant Application Form |
The group at Paisley has been actively involved in experimental studies of proton rich nuclei in the mass 160 (Z~72) and 200 (Z=85) regions. What is of considerable current interest in these investigations is the evolving nature of nuclear collectivity as a function of neutron number. With the availability of radioactive nuclear beams at SPIRAL, these studies will be extended to more proton rich systems nearer to the drip line. Neutron rich Yb nuclei have also recently been investigated by the Paisley group using a radioactive 14C beam. Such studies will be extended to more neutron rich systems using deep-inelastic scattering processes initiated by radioactive nuclear beams.
