Summary on Grant Application Form
Phase tranfer catalysts in biphasic (aqueous-apolar solvent) reaction systems have to be removed from the product-containing apolar solvent. There are currently few easy and efficient ways of doing this. This project proposes a speculative membrane reactor, in which a solvent swollen non-porous membrane will be used to choose a suitable solvent-catalyst-membrane system for demonstrating the new process.
