Summary on Grant Application Form |
Interpolation to scattered data, perhaps in high dimensions, is a commonly occurring problem, and radial basis functions have become a well-established tool for this purpose. Solving the interpolation equations still presents practitioners with significant problems, due to the ill-conditioning of the simplest form of the interpolation equations. This problem can be overcome by inventing new bases for the interpolation subspace.
