Summary on Grant Application Form
This project aims to solidify the theory of Finslerian diffusions by unifying the two schools of thought in the subject and, in doing so, make contributions to the global geometry of Finsler spaces. The theory of diffusions, Hodge theory, and the Gauss-Bonnet-Chern theorem have all been generalised to Finsler spaces with varying degrees of success. Yet, each approach yields distinct geometry constructions. We propose to relate these, and thus gain an understanding of the difficulties which arise in the various settings. The results, particularly the probabilistic method will be applied to obtain Finslerian versions of other index theorems.
