Summary on Grant Application Form |
The current techniques for the micromagnetic modelling of realistic geometries utilise finite element methods involving unstructured meshes and give disparate results. The reponse of the magnetic medium is governed by interactions on widely different length scales which preclude accurate solutions at present. The proposed project involves the development and implementation of micromagnetic problems. The inherent adaptive nature of wavelet techniques will be used to design an efficient and accurate scheme and will be applied to studies of magnetisation reversal in nanoscaled magnetic elements consisting of sogt magnetic materials with application to magnetic recording heads and sensor devices. Finally it is intended to develop a wavelet element approach which will be suitable for the simulation of micromagnetic systems with complexe geometries.
