Summary on Grant Application Form |
This application outlines a computational investigation of the rheological and dynamic properties of linear and dendritic polymers under elongational flow. Research into these materials is very active at the national and international levels with the presence of the UK's IRC in Polymer Science and Technology felt predominately in the synthesis of these materials under the guidance of Professor Feast at the University of Durham. However, the recent work of Davies and Widmann and Lyulin, Adolf and Davies within the IRC is quickly adding a significant computational view on the subject. This proposed plan of study would allow these efforts to continue by exploiting the authors' current computational investigation of similar materials under shear flow. In short, the subject of the proposal is very timely and represents excellent value for money based on the authors' current progress.
