The workshop is planned to take at the University of Wales' conference venue at Gregynog, on 10 to 14 April, 2000. The intention is to invite 15 to 20 experienced researchers, of whom we have identified about 12 who have already indicated their willingness to be involved, together with 10 to 15 younger researchers. The remaining invited established researchers and the younger participants will be selected after a general call for expressions of interest.The emphasis of the meeting will be on a mixture of prepared presentations and informal working sessions. The prepared presentations will be designed to cover recent and ongoing research at a level accessible to all participants.The meeting will identify important directions of research and fruitful cross-fertilisations. We hope that new initiatives and collaborations will arise directly from this workshop.
