Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this project is the demonstration of molecular self-assembly techniques on pre-patterned semiconductor substrates. The proposed system allows the direct integration of chemically synthesised funtional nanoscale components with well established semiconductor processing methods, as a natural bolt-on technology for the fabrication of intramolecular electronic circuits. The project will attempt to address the industrial requirements of future nanoscale IC manufacturing, namely, molecular scale minimum feature sizes that can be produced quickly and cheaply via an alternative bottom up approach, using the single step parallel self-assembly of nanoscale device components.
