The aim of the research is to undertake a study into the best practice approach for implementing designguidance on access issues in the built environment: Buildings facilitate .social inclusion far thosewith disabilities and the elderly. If the environment' is inaccessible have litle choice butto.stay in their- own home. This research will examine. the- methods .designers .use. in designing forassessibility. It seeks to assist designers, to improve the .r typically weak practice in this area bygenerating the knowledge base needed to .underpin development of the design for all approach. Avariety of research techniques will be used to ascertain qualitative information leading to a ConsensiDocument and a.
