Summary on Grant Application Form |
The development of a new ionic liquid-organic biphasic methodology for the hydrogenation of arenes and heteroaromatic compounds using appropriate transition-metal complexes and clusters as catalysts. Both the catalyst employed and the ionic liquid solvent used will effect the catalytic turnover and these will be tuned to give optimum results. Characterisation of the catalysts and their mode of operation within the ionic liquids will also be undertaken.
