|
The objective of this proposal is to provide a central machine to serve the existing system of Sun workstations and PCs used for research (see case for support) in the Department. This machine will act as a file server and as a central processor for large computer intensive applications after development work. The new machine will provide a platform for future expansion in the direction of additional processors and memory. Additional workstation and PCs included in this proposal will replace the old machines of similar class. We also request funding of computer support staff in proportion to the contribution to maintaining the network for Mathematics and Statistics research.
