Summary on Grant Application Form
We propose to develop new Markov chain and Markov decision process models of the credit and purchase behaviour of credit card customers (similar to Professor Scherer's models of bridge maintenance). These processes will have a tractable number of states even if the dynamics is not quite Markov. Using bounds on the variation from Markovitv we will then develop approximation schemes for fully and partially observable Markov decision processes.
