Summary on Grant Application Form |
In its widest context, this joint proposal between the Universities of Sheffield and Leicester is concerned with the development of novel recursive-interlacing and higher order sliding mode control techniques which may be applied to nonlinear, complex, uncertain industrial processes which may be non-flat. At Leicester, theoretical research will focus on the development of control schemes which integrate asymptotic linearalisation techniques and the use of higher order sliding reachability conditions in order to ensure that the results are relevant to a broad class of nonlinear system representations. The applied research will focus on the production of a significant case study involving the control of non-flat systems. This is a particularly challenging application area as non-flat systems comprise those systems which may not be linearised by static or dynamic feedback and thus are not possible to control using standard nonlinear techniques.
