Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Platform Grant will support the continuation of research activity in the field of Power Transmission and Motion Control by providing bridging funding to support postdoctoral researchers who are between current and future grants. Areas to be addressed encompass the design of complex machine systems; control of noise and vibration; dynamics of multibody systems, fuel injector systems; and vehicle drivetrains. The grant will also allow scoping studies to be undertaken to develop strategies for longer-term higher-risk research. A key feature of the proposal is the employment of a biologist to work in an engineering environment on the development of biologically-inspired machine systems and controllers. Possible areas for scoping studies include intelligent machines; self-configuring/self-adaptive machines; vehicle powertrain integration and control; novel actuation systems; and human interaction with products.
