This project is targeted at the development of the novel catalytic system for liquid-phase partial oxidation reactions that combines the chemistry of homogeneous catalysts based on transition-metal-substituted heteropoly acids with membrane contactor technology. In the proposed system, membrane contactor will eliminate the risks associated with using molecular oxygen for oxidation of hydrocarbons by separating the gaseous streams. Porous contactor will also provide efficient gas-liquid mass transfer and retain the homogeneous catalyst, thus solving the intrinsic problem of homogeneous catalysis ie separation. The unique properties of heteropoly acids will allow to develop reagent-tailored catalysts also capable of efficient liquid-liquid oxygen transfer to complement the properties of membrane contactor.
