Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal will enable systems integrators to master the challenge of building capabilities and improving performance in the provision of services. In the late 1990s, large buyers of CoPS expect their suppliers to move from being equipment manufacturers and systems integrators to providers of complete service-intensive business solutions. Systems integrators have to provide services both higher up the value chain and through the project life cycle. The growth of ISS solutions is reflected in a major increase in turnkey, outsourcing, Build-Operate-Transfer and Private Finance Initiative orders. However, there is no accepted business model of how to proceed in this new context. Firms do not know where they stand in relation to competitors and face difficulties in learning about best practices across sectors. There is a lack of data on how ISS capabilities can and should be built up and no established best practice methods or tools to ensure fast and effective progress. The project aims to tackle this problem by developing and testing a comprehensive capability model (ISS-OCM). This will enable our collaborating companies to assess their current positions in ISS, to identify paths for improving their organisational ISS capabilities and performance, and to transfer best practices across sectors.EngProg\
