Summary on Grant Application Form |
The objective of this research is to produce cartridge filters from novel fibres from the non-food crops industry. The aim would be to replace imported cotton with UK hemp and flax fibre as the raw materials for the manufafture of cartridge filters for liquid applications. The research aims to develop suitable yarns from pure and mixed fibres in order to produce filters. This will require manipulation and control of yarn thickness, yarn winding tension and winding pattern. The filtration performance of the produced filters will be determined using state of the art
